MARCH 2012
So, I had to take a trip to Arizona last week. I returned Saturday, aaaaand, still haven’t been posting much, have I? I must admit, I’ve locked myself up a bit wondering exactly what needs to be done next. Time to put out want ads for staff positions? Or maybe look around for a producer who would be much more experienced in such matters? Time to schedule the Kickstarter? Time to GET SERIOUS??
Ultimately, I remembered I thought of this thing a little more than a month ago, and it’s probably just best to keep doing what I am doing. Sketching in the sketchbook, writing the story, and creating the various bits and pieces as I think of them for a few months, until I end up with a sketchbook and laptop full of them. And occasionally I’ll share them here.
It’s actually a bit hard to fight the urges to share every single thing I draw. For those who don’t know, I’ve done webcomics for a good 1/3rd of my life now, and like many webcartoonists I have worked without a buffer, so it’s nothing less of an instinct now to post everything I do on a website once I’ve finished it. And, granted, it may be interesting to see a videogame developed completely out in the open that way, buuuut there are reasons it probably shouldn’t be.
So the instincts will be fought (with guns) and I’ll continue doing the updates, but they won’t be quite so rapid-fire, for a Tumblr. Maybe once or twice a week? I hope this sounds like a good deal to y’all.
Those of you who emailed me about helping, I know I have yet to reply to many of you, but you’ve been added to a list and will hear from me pretty soon.
I have designed levels for the first two chapters for Princess A and the Prologue for Princess B, complete with the first boss fight.
I’m 95% sure the princesses will just be called A and B.
Not so with the fairies! A’s fairy will be named Adelaide. I don’t have a name for B’s yet.
Murray won’t be a cowboy armadillo. Nintendo just released a game starring a cowboy armadillo. I know some of you think I’ve been a little too worrisome about repeating ideas, but seeing how Rolling Western came out three weeks ago, the Statute of Limitations is totally in effect here. He’ll still be named Murray. Murray is the name of the bassist for the Old 97s.
There a slight change in direction I am considering for the gameplay and overall style of the game…. which I’ll post about later!
Once again, thank you very much everybody. The level of support after a mere month has been pretty darn phenomenal!
